OUR STORY

Aaram se

Slowly, gently, take your time.

EMILY, OLIVER & FAMILY

What's in a name

In Hindi, aaram se means slowly, gently, take your time. It is what you hear in a busy bazaar when someone is hurrying, and what a maker says when you ask how long a piece will take. Say it twice, aaram se, aaram se, and it becomes a way of living. There is no rush. Everything worth having is worth waiting for.

That is the spirit behind everything we do.

From East Sussex

A family business

Aramse Aramse is run by Emily, Oliver and family from East Sussex. We bring together jewellery, textiles, homeware and decorative pieces that we would want in our own home: things with colour, weight and character, and a story behind them.

Found one piece at a time

We work with makers, workshops and suppliers in India and around the world. We do not buy from catalogues. We visit, we ask questions, we handle every piece, and we choose them one by one.

Some arrive in small batches. Some are the only one there will ever be.

OUR PROMISE

Honest, always

Every piece is photographed as it really is, in natural light, with its marks and its character showing. We tell you its size, its materials and anything you should know before it arrives. If we are not sure about something, we will not claim it.

Take your time

Look closely. Come back tomorrow. When something is right, you will know.

Aaram se.
